What is a hot stone massage?
A hot stone massage is a therapeutic massage that uses smooth, heated stones to apply warmth and pressure to the body. The stones are warmed in water and then placed on key points of the back, shoulders, neck and legs.
Your therapist also holds the stones in their hands and glides them over the skin with long, slow strokes. The heat relaxes the muscles so the massage can reach deeper layers with less pressure, which makes it ideal if you want deep relief without a firm massage.
At 3,400 metres, Cusco evenings can be cold: an hour of warmth is one of the most comforting ways to end a day of sightseeing.
